ST IVES, CORNWALL, UNITED KINGDOM, September 15, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Editors Keys, the British manufacturer that built the first backlit editing keyboard in 2005, has launched the AB10 range — and with it, the first editing keyboard to combine full backlighting with wireless connectivity.
The company’s software-specific shortcut keyboards are used in post-production and recording facilities including Warner Bros., the BBC, NASA, Rockstar Games and Pinewood Studios.
The AB10 range comprises two models. The AB10 Air is the flagship: a fully wireless, backlit shortcut keyboard that pairs with up to three devices simultaneously, allowing an editor to move between a Mac, a PC and an iPad without re-pairing. The AB10 Core is a wired version for studios that prefer a cable, or that cannot use wireless peripherals for security reasons. It requires no batteries and carries the same full backlighting.
Both models are printed with the complete shortcut set for a specific application rather than generic key legends. Twelve versions are available at launch, covering Avid Pro Tools, Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Ableton Live, Steinberg Cubase, Bitwig Studio, Reason and Microsoft Flight Simulator, with further titles added monthly. Prices start at GBP 179.99.
“We made the first backlit editing keyboard twenty years ago, and we’ve just made the first wireless one,” said Mark Brown, founder and Managing Director of Editors Keys. “Those two things sound like they should have arrived together, but they don’t — the moment you go wireless, the backlight eats your battery. Solving that properly is what took us the longest. If you’re grading in a darkened suite at two in the morning, an unlit keyboard is useless, and a cable across the desk is one more thing in the way.”
The three-device pairing responds to a change in how editing work is structured. “Almost every freelancer we speak to is working across at least two machines now — a Mac for Resolve, a PC for a client’s project, an iPad for review and approval,” Brown said. “One keyboard that follows you across all of it sounds like a small thing until you’ve worked that way, and then you can’t go back.”
Editors Keys also confirmed that customer-customised keyboards will join the range shortly. Customers will be able to upload their own logo, position and scale it, and order a keyboard printed to their specification — produced in-house at the company’s Danish and British facilities rather than through overseas manufacturing. The service is aimed at studios, production companies and agencies wanting branded hardware for their edit suites.
