LATLC and OCTLC presented adaptive trykes to children with disabilities and assembled 1,000 toiletry kits for veterans experiencing homelessness.

Being there and seeing the excitement on the children’s faces and the reaction from their families reminds us why this work matters”

LONG BEACH, CA, UNITED STATES, August 19, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Los Angeles Trial Lawyers’ Charities (LATLC) held its 10th Annual Great Tryke Giveaway on Saturday, August 15, bringing together trial attorneys, volunteers, families and community partners to provide adaptive tricycles to children with physical and developmental disabilities.

The annual event, held at Bancroft Middle School in Long Beach, is a partnership between LATLC and Orange County Trial Lawyers’ Charities (OCTLC). Together, the organizations purchase and present customized adaptive tricycles that are fitted to the individual needs of each child.

The specialized trykes can provide children with greater mobility and independence and allow many to experience riding a bike for the first time. The equipment is customized through LATLC’s longtime partnership with SoCal Trykers, a local chapter of AMBUCS that helps children and adults with disabilities obtain adaptive tricycles. This year, the bikes for OC came from OC Special Spokes.

LATLC has supported the Great Tryke Giveaway since 2017. What began with the presentation of three customized bicycles has grown into an annual event that has provided more than 100 adaptive tricycles to children and young adults with disabilities throughout Southern California. To date, LATLC has donated 187 adaptive tricycles, while OCTLC, which began donating in 2022, has donated 38.

The cost of an adaptive tricycle can be significant because each tryke is customized to the rider. LATLC and OCTLC help cover that cost so families can receive equipment designed specifically for their child.

“There is something incredibly special about watching a child get on their tryke and ride for the first time. Being there and seeing the excitement on the children’s faces and the reaction from their families reminds us why this work matters. As trial lawyers, we have an opportunity to use our time and resources to make a real difference in our community, and I am proud to see LATLC continue this tradition for a 10th year,” said Griselda Rodriguez, 2026 President of Los Angeles Trial Lawyers’ Charities and a trial attorney.

The event also included a volunteer service project benefiting veterans. LATLC and OCTLC volunteers assembled 1,000 toiletry kits in partnership with U.S. VETS. The kits will be used as part of U.S. VETS’ outreach to veterans experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles, Orange County, and throughout Southern California.

More than 60 volunteers participated in the service project while the children received their final tryke adjustments and prepared to ride. LATLC and OCTLC have made the toiletry-kit project part of the Great Tryke Giveaway as another way to support local communities during the annual event.
The Great Tryke Giveaway is one of LATLC’s longstanding community service programs. The organization provides charitable grants and volunteer support to nonprofits and community programs serving children, people with disabilities, survivors of abuse, individuals experiencing homelessness, and other communities throughout Greater Los Angeles.
