Morgan Spencer, founder of Lotus Flo Inc. and Gwinnett County’s youngest former Youth Commissioner, releases a privacy-focused cycle tracker to help teens safely understand their bodies.

At just 17 years old, Morgan Anika Spencer is expanding her advocacy for menstrual health with the release of Lotus Flo. The free period-tracking and health education app is now officially available on the Apple App Store, offering teens a private tool to understand their bodies, track their cycles, and access accurate health information.

As the founder of Lotus Flo Inc., a registered 501(c) nonprofit, Spencer has dedicated her efforts to ending period poverty on a global scale. Her civic engagement began locally when she served as the youngest Youth Commissioner in the history of Gwinnett County (Georgia’s second-largest county). This early public service shaped her commitment to helping young people access safe, chemical-free menstrual products.

Spencer established the organization to address a severe gap in access to menstrual products free of PFAS; chemicals often found in everyday items. Lotus Flo partners with international organizations to distribute these products to schools, shelters, and communities worldwide, alongside hosting educational workshops that provide accurate, stigma-free information.

“I started Lotus Flo because I saw how many young people were being held back by something as simple as not having access to safe products or accurate information about their own bodies,” said Morgan Spencer, Founder of Lotus Flo Inc. “Whether it’s through our workshops, our product distribution, or now our app, my goal is the same: no one should have to choose between their health and their dignity.”

Funding for the Lotus Flo app was secured in September 2025 after Spencer placed second out of more than 4,000 attendees at the Jack and Jill of America On The Hill Summit Pitch Competition in Washington, D.C., earning a grant sponsored by PNC Bank. Designed specifically for teens, the resulting mobile app provides a simple, private way to track menstrual cycles, understand cycle phases, and log daily moods. By making the app free, Spencer aims to reach users nationally and internationally, providing necessary resources directly on their smartphones.

“Lotus Flo was created from a simple belief: no girl should have to navigate her period without access to information, support, and resources,” Spencer explained regarding her vision as Founder and CEO. “I wanted to create something that meets girls where they are, on their phones, and gives them a safe, empowering space to better understand their menstrual health, track their cycles and moods, and learn more about their bodies. Seeing Lotus Flo become an app available on the Apple App Store is incredibly meaningful because it brings us one step closer to making menstrual education and empowerment accessible to girls everywhere.”

To further broaden the app’s international reach and secure future partnerships, Spencer is currently working with web developers and a nutritionist to translate the platform into French. This version will launch on the App Store in France, Monaco, and Haiti by January.

Spencer’s initiative has already gained notable international traction. In February 2026, Lotus Flo Inc. received the Global Impact Award at the World Education Summit in Dubai, UAE, recognizing its work advancing menstrual equity for girls worldwide. In March 2026, she became the first and only teenager to receive the Innovator Business Award from the Gwinnett Women’s Chamber of Commerce.
