Antech, a global leader in veterinary diagnostics, today announced the North America launch of the trūRapid™ Reader*, a portable device that captures a timed image of the result for the trūRapid line of in-house screening tests.

The trūRapid portfolio includes trūRapid FOUR, which detects Dirofilaria immitis (heartworm) antigen and antibodies to Borrelia burgdorferi, Anaplasma spp. and Ehrlichia spp. in dogs, and trūRapid FIV/FeLV, which detects feline leukemia virus (FeLV) antigen and feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) antibody in cats. The trūRapid Reader captures results at the specified 10-minute read time, supporting testing workflow while veterinary professionals remain responsible for reviewing and confirming them before transfer to a connected Practice Information Management System (PIMS).

Key Features of the trūRapid Reader:

  • Timed Result Capture: Captures a digital image of the test result at the optimal 10-minute read time, without requiring a separate manual timer. The Reader stores approximately 200 images for future review.

  • Low Maintenance: Designed with no routine maintenance requirements or regular calibration. Because samples do not enter the device, there is no internal sample residue or dried debris requiring routine cleaning.

  • Space-Saving Design: The compact, portable device features a 4.3” capacitive touchscreen, eliminating the need for an additional monitor.

For the most unified diagnostic experience, results can be viewed in HealthTracks™, Antech’s digital platform, which brings in-house rapid test results, reference lab data, and other diagnostics together into a single, patient view.

“Every second counts in a busy veterinary clinic,” said Jimmy Barr, DVM, DACVECC, Chief Medical Officer, Antech. “We’re seeing exciting momentum with trūRapid, and the Reader is the latest example of how we’re continuing to invest in and build this portfolio around the needs of veterinary teams. By listening to our customers and simplifying the testing workflow, we’re helping clinics work more efficiently, move faster and make timely, informed decisions with confidence.”

*trūRapid tests can be read visually without use of trūRapid Reader. Results must be confirmed with applicable guidelines and interpreted in light of patient history, clinical signs, and veterinary clinical judgment.
